George was the son of William Christopher and Mary Ann Brakebill Kanatzar of Kentucky. He married Mary Jane Riley on Aug 31 1898 in Boone Co, MO. From this union were born seven children: Clarence Buford, Riley Tilmer, Clora Mae Powell, Ira Clay, Verdell "Tom", Mary Gentry Hulen and Hattie Ellen Brink.

--George Kanatzar Dies at Sturgeon; Funeral Friday--Centralia--Mrs. Luther Powell and Mrs. George Brink were called to Sturgeon Tuesday night by the death of their father, George Kanatzar, 75, at his home there. The body will remain at the Meador Funeral Home in Sturgeon until time for services, to be conducted at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Sturgeon Baptist Church. The Rev. Monroe Hopkins will officiate and burial will be in the Horeb cemtery. Also surviving are three sons, Riley and Ira Kanatzar, Kansas City, and Verdell Kanatzar, Sturgeon; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Hulen, of the home; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, William Kanatzar, Sturgeon; and three sisters, Mrs. Sam Barnes and Mrs. Elmer Palmer, Sturgeon, and Mrs. Robert Greeno, Mexico.
