--Mrs. Mary Kanatzar--Mrs. Mary Kanatzar died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Laura Greeno in Sturgeon on Wednesday morning at 1:35. She had been in failing health for a number of years. She was the daughter of the late Phillip and Dorcia Brakebill and was born in Washington Co, KY, October 13, 1850. She was united in marriage to William Kanatzar on November 15, 1876, after their marriage they resided in Kentucky for a number of years. Then moved to Missouri. Mrs. Kanatzar with her family lived in Sturgeon for a number of years. To this union were born 10 children and seven survive. They are: Geo. Kanatzar and W. C. Kanatzar of Sturgeon; Mrs. Laura Greeno, Mrs. Elmer Palmer, Mrs. Sam Barnes, of Sturgeon; Mrs. R. W. Greeno of Mexico; and Mrs Ed Myers, of Hallsville; and 19 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and one brother, Joe Brakebill of Sturgeon. After the death of her husband Mrs. Kanatzar made her home with her children. "Grandma Kanatzar" as she was called was a good Christian woman and mother in every respect to her children. Her husband preceeded her to the grave six years ago. Funeral services were held at the Union church southwest of Sturgeon on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock and conducted by Rev. Egan Hendren of Centralia and burial in the adjoining cemetery.
