Clora was the daughter of William Christopher and Mary Jane Riley Kanatzar. She married Luther Martin "Tooter" Powell on Oct 1, 1922 in Columbia, Boone, MO. They had one child: Dorothy Mae. Clora died while mowing her yard.

--Clora M. Powell-- Clora M. Powell, 80, of Centralia died unexpectedly at her residence Saturday afternoon, May 10, 1986. Services are today, Wednesday, May 14, at 2 p.m., at the Meador & Son Funeral Chapel, Centralia, with burial in the City of Centralia Cemetery. The Rev. Don McMurry, pastor of First Baptist Church, Centralia, will officiate. She was born in Boone County Oct. 5, 1905, a daughter of George Miller and Mary Jane Riley Kanatzar. She was married to Luther Martin Powell, who preceded her in death in 1959. She attended Sturgeon schools, and lived in Sturgeon for many years. She retired from A. B. Chance Company, Centralia, Dec. 3, 1969, after 25 year of service. Surviving are one daughter, Dorothy McCauley of Centralia; one grandson, Edward V. Major of Guam; three great-grandchildren, Leas Ray Major, Lori Renia Major and Matthew Major, all of Bora, Ill.; one brother, Tom Kanatzar of Sturgeon; and one sister, Mary Hulen of Macon. Pallbearers are Tom Marshall, Bill David Meador, Don Rusch, J.W. Bagley, Walter Schramm and Hugh Hulen.
