LEE TACKER SUCCUMBS

Many friends will learn with deep regret of the death of Mr. Lee Tacker, which occurred on Sunday afternoon, September 4, 1927, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Will Briles, in Whitebreast township, after an extended illness with a cancer.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. J. D. Pontius, of the Christian church, were held at the Briles home on Tuesday forenoon at 10 o'clock, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Chariton cemetery.

Lee O. Tacker was born in Marion county, Iowa on March 26, 1876, and at the time of his death his age was 51 years, 5 months and 9 days. He came to Chariton with his parents when he was but a small lad and this place has since been his home.

He was married on June 3, 1897, to Miss Lillie M. Farlin, who survives him. To them four children were born, all of whom are living. They are Howard and Lloyd, of Clarence, Iowa, Mrs. Faye Widener, of Chariton, and Cecil, of Anaheim, Calif.

Besides his immediate family he is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Cora Briles, of Whitebreast township; Mrs. Lillie Wilson, of Russell, and Will Tacker, of Macksville, Kansas.

Deceased had been in ill health for a year. On March 19th of this year he went to the hospital at Iowa City, thinking his troubles would be relieved, but when an operation was performed it was learned that he was suffering with cancer of the stomach. Everything that was possible was done to restore him to health but to no avail.

Last spring he was brought to the home of his sister here, where everything possible was done for his care and comfort. He was highly regarded by all who knew him and esteemed for his many splendid qualities. His demise is deplored by all, and the sympathy of the community will be extended to the sorrowing ones. Mr. Tacker had been a member of the Christian church at this place for many years.
