Funeral for the late Mrs. Maria M. Shoemaker took place from the Slippery Rock Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon in charge of the pastor, Rev. Paul Elliott, assisted by Rev. Charles Bell of Ellwood City and Rev. George R. Krupp of the Center United Presbyterian church. Pallbearers were Harry Cunningham, Ernest Guy, Clair and Earl Friday, William Weingartner and George Ramsey. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Shoemaker was born in Wayne township, June 18, 1854, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Cunningham. She was united in marriage to Robert C. Shoemaker, February 14, 1878. Mr. and Mrs. Shoemaker lived on their farm about three miles north-east of Ellwood City until about 12 years ago when they moved to Hazel Dell stop to reside. About a year ago they went to live with their daughter, Mrs. John L. Gibsoon of Princeton at which place Mrs. Shoemaker passed away. Mrs. Shoemaker was a devoted wife, a kind and loving mother and a devout Christian.
The following children surviv: Emmett A. of Warren, O., Mrs. Agnes A. Gibson of Princeton, John C. of Enon Valley and Frank L. of Ellendale, North Dakota. Two other children, Lillian and Sherman preceded their mother in death.
