The son of Casper Heinrich Trampe and Henrietta Louisa Dorothea "Louise" Westerfeld, "Carl" married Caroline Elisabeth Prigge on 11 Feb 1866 in St. Louis, Missouri. They were the parents of 11 children.

Carl was a farmer in St. Louis County. Caroline was a homemaker.

Carl's wife died of cancer in the fall of 1918.

The following summer, he was killed when he was horned by a bull and his diaphragm was perforated. At the time of his death, Carl was 77 years, 4 months and 11 days old.

He was survived by 3 daughters, Christina Meinholts, Bertha Hammerschmidt and Laura Trampe; 3 sons, Adolph Trampe, Herman Trampe and Julius Trampe; and many extended family members.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on the afternoon of 23 Aug 1919 at the family home located at Larimore Road and Trampe Lane. From there, they were continued at Salem Lutheran Church in Black Jack.

Carl was buried next to his wife, Caroline. He shares a marker with her and 3 of their children.
