EDEN - Floyd Eugene Meeks, 70, of 327 Frank Cherry St., passed away at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. today, Oct. 25, 2009, at Pleasant View Baptist Church with the visitation to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at the Goodwill Primitive Baptist Cemetery on the Morgan Ford Road in Virginia.
Mr. Meeks was born in Henry County to the late Sherman and Myrtle Williams Meeks. He was retired from Fieldcrest Mills and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents Floyd was preceded in death by sisters, Mildred, Sandra and Portia.
Surviving him are wife, Charlotte Myers Meeks, of the home; daughter, Cindy Morey and husband, William, of Ridgeway, V.A.; sons, Mike Meeks, of Eden, David Meeks and wife, Sheila, of Ridgeway, and Rick Meeks and wife, Kim, of Stoneville; stepdaughter and caregiver, Candace Lee, of Eden; stepson, Chris Boyd, of Willis, V.A.; sisters, Joan Meeks and Colleen Bake, of Ridgeway, Donna Harmon, Carolyn Corum, Deborah Gammons, of Eden, and Rhonda Meeks, of Stoneville; brothers, Curtis Meeks, of Eden, Buzzard Meeks, of Stoneville, and Timmy Meeks, of Ridgeway; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
