Born in Manhattan, NYC, served in WWII as Sgt. with Co. B, 48th Armored Infantry, 7th Armored Div. under General George Patton, Awarded Bronze Star, rec'd Purple Heart for his wounds in Holland, partial list of battles fought in; Verdun France, Metz Belgium and the Battle of the Bulge during which time his feet were badly frozen. Early 1950s he settled in Trenton, NJ - Purchasing Agent for Albert & Son Machinery and later managed Kohn's Bakery, both companies in Trenton, NJ. Survived by four sons; Edmund Jan Kounitz, Lance Steven Kounitz and from 2nd Wife: Carolyn Kohn Kounitz; Martin Seth Kounitz & Jonathan Samuel Kounitz plus four Grandsons; Shawn Kounitz, Ben Kounitz, Jake Kounitz, Yenon Kounitz
