Essie Nell Hughes, 62, of Mendenhall died July 17 at Magee General Hosptial (sic Hospital).
She was a member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church and a retired housewife.
Services were held July 18 at 2 p.m. from Mims Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Herbert Kinmon and Rev. Oliver C. Ladnier officiating. Burial was in the New Bethlehem cemetery and Mims Mitchell Funeral Home of Magee was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include four sons, Paul Hughes of Longmont, Col., John Hughes of Garrison, KY., Charlie Hughes and Robert Hughes, both of Mendenhall; her father, A.I. Barr of Mendenhall; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Maddox of Magee, Mrs. Marie Titone of Shreveport, and Mrs. Tommye White of Brandon; three brothers, Charles Ray Barr and Howard Barr, both of Mendenhall and Wayne Barr of Hawthorne, Nev.; and a host of other relatives.
