Alice LaVerne Garcia, 84, of Pearl City was born on November 24, 1914, in Falmouth, the daughter of Charles and Anna (McColley) Burton. She married Raymond Garcia on December 25, 1940 in Chicago. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pearl City. For many years, Alice worked in the fine china department at Marshall Fields in Chicago. After her retirement, she lived for 18 years in Thousand Oaks, California. Alice was an avid reader, an excellent cook and loved watching baseball and golf on TV. Alice is survived by her husband, Raymond; two stepdaughters, Virginia (Merle) Heimerdingr of Pearl City and Carmen (Victor) Evertson of Justice; one stepson, Raymond (Yvonne) Garcia of Westlake Village, California; four sisters, Doris Raabe of Walnut, Mary Burnell of Decatur, Glenna Schmidt of Chicago and Avanelle Gosnell of Hidalgo; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters and two brothers. Alice died Tuesday, April 6, 1999. The funeral service is Friday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pearl City, Illinois with burial at Highland Cemetery in Pearl City, Illinois.
