Charles Gordon Burton, 71, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Whitsitt, 54 Greenridge Dr., Decatur, IL., at 4:10 a.m. Thursday, Aug 17, 1978.
Mr. Burton was born Jan. 10, 1907, in Jasper county, a son of the late Charles and Anna McColley Burton. He married Lucille Tincher in April, 1935. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Whitsitt( Beverly)and Mrs. Lynn (Charlene)Smith, both of Decatur; one brother, Ralph Burton of Mattoon; seven sisters, Mabel McManus and Mrs. Louis (Harriett)Grach, both of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. W.A. (Doris) Raabe of Walnut, Mrs. Raymond (Alice) Garcia and Mrs. Jerome (Glenna)Schmidt of Chicago, Mrs. Milo (Mary) Burnell of Decatur and Mrs. Calvin (Avanelle) Gosnell of Rose Hill. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Marsha, Mark and Scott Whitsitt and Troy Smith and several nieces and nephews. One sister, Beulah Burton and one grandson, Douglas Whitsitt, preceded him in death.
