Owner of Robin Hood Sand and Gravel and retired from the Louisiana Conservation Department, he died after a lengthy battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at his residence in Denham Springs. He was 87 and a native of Gates.

Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Visitation at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until service at noon Friday, conducted by the Rev. Bill Strawbridge and the Rev. Wybra Price II. Burial in Palmetto Cemetery, Walker.

Survived by his wife, Bertha Hood; daughter, Robelynn Abadie Brackin and husband Wayne; sons, Robin Richard Hood and wife Wilma, and Robin Hood Jr. and wife Charlotte; a brother, Boyd Hood; stepdaughters, Brigette S. Messina, Debora S. Chustz and Gwen Barilleaux; stepsons, Dwayne Solar, Terry Barilleaux, Glen Barilleaux and Kim Barilleaux; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, 20 stepgrandchildren, a stepgreat-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Barilleaux Hood; father, Ellis Ivy Hood; mother, Amy Hood; brothers, Sidney M. Hood and Coburn Hood; a sister, Jewel Peak; and a son, Ronald Hood.

Pallbearers will be Sidney Hood, Johnny Hood, Darren Hood, Jason Abadie, Lane Hood, Mike Hood and Terry Barilleaux. Honorary pallbearers are Dwayne Solar and Rodney Hood.

He was an alderman in Denham Springs, a member of the Odd Fellows, past president of Southside PTA, a deacon at First United Methodist Church in Denham Springs, and was an avid fisherman.
