The Rev. Boyd Hood died at 1:23 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at St. Helena Parish Hospital in Greensburg. He was 87, a native of Walker and a resident of Greensburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired minister of the United Methodist Conference having served many churches in the area, a former businessman and a resident of Denham Springs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Amy Hood, Bath, N.Y.; two sons, Boyd Ellis Hood and wife Cheryl, Greenwell Springs, and John D. Hood and wife Christine, Greensburg; two grandchildren, April Hood Schaff, Baton Rouge, and Daniel Hood, Greenwell Springs; and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Schaff, Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth M. "Betty" Hood. Visitation was at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, Friday and at Day's United Methodist Church, Greensburg, Saturday until religious services, conducted by the Rev. Larry Robertson and the Rev. Larry Stafford. Interment was in Day's Cemetery, Greensburg.
