Obituary:
Ethel M. "Granny D" Davis, 87, of Kankakee. died Tuesday (April 6, 1999) at Provena St. Mary's hospital. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Hertz-Thoms Funeral Chapel, Kankakee, where services will be at 11 a.m. Friday. the Rev. Anthony Taschetta will officiate. Burial will be at Mound Grove cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Illinois chapter.

She was born Oct. 17, 1911 in Sherburnville, the daughter of George and Myrtle Linebrink Smith. Her husband, Fred Davis, whom she married in 1934 in Kankakee, is deceased. Also deceased are brothers John, Ray and Kenny; sisters Doris, Pauline and Clara and one grandson Jeffrey Cremer.

Surviving are three daughters and sons in law, Hope and Roy Zelbart of Bonfield, Georgia and Don Cremer of Chicago Heights and Carol Davis and Bruce Owens of Kankakee; two sisters, Marion Garrett and Jeanette McQueary, both of Bradley, 34 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Teresa Catholic Church and she enjoyed sewing pot holders, doing bead craft, bird watching and watching Wheel of Fortune.
