He was born in the state of Kentucky in Franklin county, in the year 1791. He emigrated to Indiana and settled in Montgomery county in 1822, leaving there, he came to Iowa and located in Mahaska county in 1844, in Adams township on the farm now owned by Jacob Krisor. He and his family moved to Monroe township where they lived for several years when they moved to this township where he resided until the day of his death.

In his young days he joined the Christian church and all through life he lived a true christian. His politics was of the true Andrew Jackson Democracy, being raised in that school and during those years was a young and energetic politician. Through all his long and busy life he was a tiller of the soil. He was an honest and industrious man, a good citizen, an accommodating neighbor, a true and faithful husband, and a kind and indulgent father.

He leaves an aged wife and six sons and three daughters to mourn his loss, who were all present at the funeral except the oldest daughter, Eliza Wymore, of Pawnee, Nebraska, who was unable to get there. The family have the sympathy of all in this place and vicinity in this their sad bereavement of the loss of a father."
