Capt. Dow

Retired Capt. James Elwood Dow of Virginia Beach, formally of the Maryland Pilots Association, died Wednesday and a Virginia Beach hospital.

A Navy veteran of World War II, Capt. Dow was retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Virginia Beach, and its Edward M. Harvey Bible Class; the Oriental Lodge No. 20, AF & AM, Mathews; the Retired Officers Association and Maryland Pilots Association.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sue M. Dow; a stepson, Robert M. Massenburg of Alaska; and a brother, Sam Dow of California.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Holloman–Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, Virginia Beach.

Burial, with Masonic rites, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Friendship Cemetery, Susan.
