Marjorie Gertrude Thoennes Byrd, of West Lafayette, died at 2:55 PM Monday, Feb. 14, 1994, in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, where she had been a patient for three weeks and in failing health for ten months.
Born in Lafayette, she lived in the area most of her life. She attended St. Boniface School, graduated from St. Francis High School, and attended Lafayette Business College. She married Paul Byrd on July 31, 1954.
Mrs. Byrd worked in the registrar's office at Purdue University for 17 years, retiring in 1982. She also was a real estate broker. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, American Legion Post 11 Auxiliary, Delta Sigma Kappa sorority, and Tippecanoe County Historical Society.
Surviving is a daughter, Paula (Mrs. Thomas) Meyer of Lafayette; and two grandsons.
