Mary E. Jaques was the daughter of Samuel Clark Jaques and Luamy Clarkson Jaques, born July 25, 1849 on Section 31 of Hanover Township in Butler County, Ohio. Shortly after her birth the Jaques families left Butler County and moved just west into Franklin County, Indiana, settling in Mt. Carmel in Springfield Township. Samuel's brothers and sisters settled in section 10 of White Water Township about 2 miles south of Mt. Carmel. Samuel died in 1856 and after the civil war the entire clan pulled up stakes and moved west to Boone County, Indiana near Thorntown. Mary never married and died July 26, 1902.
