BLANCHARD - Mrs. Elizabeth Blanchard, a daughter of George L. Lutz and Anna Ewald Lutz, was born October 12, 1876, in Bushnell, Ill., and passed away Friday, May 10, at the home of her daughter, Carrie, where she had lived the past nine years. Death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage.
Mrs. Blanchard had previously lived in Chariton. She was a former welfare official for Lucas County at Chariton.
Mrs. Blanchard was a member of the United Methodist Church in Chariton.
She was married to Edwin B. Blanchard on November 27, 1895, and to this union five children were born.
Surviving her are three daughters: Mrs. Nellie Taylor of Sonora, California; Mrs. Carrie Knowlton of Des Moines, and Mrs. Abbye Garrett of Chariton; two sons: Byron of Chariton and George of Bensonville, Ill.; nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Edwin, in April 1935, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. Arthur Eveland, pastor of the St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Des Moines, on Monday, May 13, 1968, at 2 p.m. from the Pleasant Prairie Methodist Church, near Chariton, with burial in the Russell Cemetery.
