Deceased Had Lived in Mt. Auburn for Forty Years.
Funeral Held Sunday
On Thursday evening, at the family home in Mt. Auburn, occurred the death of James Jenks Sr., one of the old time residents of Benton County and Mt. Auburn. The deceased had been in failing health for about four years and for several months before his death had been in a serious condition and his death, which was due to a complication of diseases, did not come as a surprise to his family and friends.
The deceased was born in the county where his death occurred and was 63 years, 7 months and 14 days of age when death overtook him. He had always resided in the vicinity where he was born and for over forty years had been a resident of Mt. Auburn. He was well known to many in La Porte City and vicinity. During his residence in Mt. Auburn he was always for most in anything that was promoted for the good of that village, and his death is regretted by a large circle of friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his widow and four children as follows: Frank, Bud, and James, Jr., of this city, and Mrs. Goldie Calkins, of White Lake, Min. Four sisters and two brothers also survive as follows: Mrs. James Bearbower, and Mrs. V. Frink of Brandon; Mrs. Susie Hood of Greens; Mrs. Anna Watson, of Waterloo; W. H. Jenks of Shellrock and Jerome Jenks of Clarksville.
Funeral services were held from the Jenks residence at Mt. Auburn Sunday afternoon and burial was made in the family lot in the Mt. Auburn cemetery.
