John H. Miller, 87, of Mount Joy, passed away peacefully to his heavenly home Friday, June 5, 2009 at his home. He was the husband of Margaret G. (Wenger) Miller. They were married 66 years on April 24th. Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Ella (Heisey) Miller. John retired from the Manheim Auto Auction in 2006 after 15 years of service, prior to which he worked for Longenecker's Hatchery, Elizabethtown and Babcock Hatchery in Lititz. A member of Mt. Calvary Church in Elizabethtown, John enjoyed working outside, gardening, reading and traveling around the country. He was a 1940 graduate of Maytown High School and served in CPS during WWII. He is survived by a sister, Ruth Hollinger of Elizabethtown. He was predeceased by two brothers, Norman and Ralph; and two sisters, Miriam Herr and Anna Rutt. John and Margaret had five children: James R., husband of Marie Snyder Miller; Jeffrey R., husband of Betsy Betzold Miller; Phyllis E., wife of Dale E. Shenk; Jerrold R., husband of Cindy Graham Miller; Jay R., husband of Glenda Blevins Miller; 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2009 at Mt. Calvary Church, 625 North Holly Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 at 7:00 PM. Burial will take place at Kraybill Mennonite Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Church Mission Fund.
