Virginia Christine Dean Sorg, 73, of Joplin, passed away at 12:03 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2002 at Freeman Hospital West.

Born March 3, 1929 in Stotts City, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Daniel E. Dean and Ruth L. Irons Dean and lived in the Joplin area most of her lifetime. She was a homemaker.

On September 17, 1944 she married Harry H. Sorg Jr. in Webb City. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1994.

Survivors include three sons, Harry H. Sorg III of Lamar, Michael E. Sorg of St. Simons Island, Ga., David E. Sorg of Springfield, Mo.; three daughters, Cheryl Hoyer of Diamond, Mo., Kathy Sorg of Joplin, Deborah Danner of Carterville, Mo.; a brother, Hershel Dean of Sacramento, Calif; a half sister, Lela Wuellner of Toledo, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 .m. Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery with Rev. Bob Winnett and Rev. Bill Hobson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Freeman Hospital.
