William B. Welker, 101, of Millersville, formerly of Kurreville, died Tuesday, September 25, 1990, at Cape Girardeau Care Center.

Mr. Welker was born May 2, 1889 in Hilderbrand, the son of George and Marie Catherine (Strueve) Welker. He married Josephine Ates on April 9, 1911 in Kurreville. She preceded him in death on March 30, 1983. Mr. Welker worked as a farmer from 1904 to 1973. He was a member of Old Salem United Methodist Church in Millersville.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Rusby (Mary Ilene) Niswonger of Millersville, Mrs. Woodrow (Modean) Hahs of San Bernardino, California and Mrs. Jack (Jewell) Ellis of Advance; one son, Leo (wife, Gloria) Welker of Fruitland; one sister, Mrs. Clara Gagnepain of Perryville; three half-sisters, Mrs. Ella Niswonger of Cape Girardeau, Mrs. Jean Schreiner of Jackson and Mrs. Charles William I (Ollie Marie) Hager of Taylorville, Illinois; two half-brothers, Lyman Welker of Jackson and Leslie Lee (wife, Beatrice) Welker of East Alton, Illinois; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Amanda Welker; three sons, Hubert Welker, Rusby Welker and Loy John Welker; one great-grandchild; three half-brothers, Otis Welker, Clarence Welker and Fred Welker; four half-sisters, Sadie Welker, Connie Green, Dessie Newell and Cloa Stevens; and one step-brother, Charles Chester Hunter I.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 1990, at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home. Rev. Lloyd Bollinger officiated, with burial following at Old Salem Cemetery in Millersville.
