Josephine Welker, 88, of Millersville, formerly of Kurreville, died Wednesday, March 30, 1983, at Cape Girardeau Care Center.

Mrs. Welker was born June 17, 1894 in Kurreville, the daughter of Henry and Margaret (Linebarger) Ates. She married William B. Welker on April 9, 1911 in Kurreville. Mrs. Welker was a member of Old Salem United Methodist Church, Women of the Church and the Old Salem Homemakers Club, all of Millersville.

Surviving are her husband, William; three daughters, Mrs. Rusby (Mary Ilene) Niswonger and Mrs. Lee Sr. (Modean) Bollinger, both of Millersville, and Ms Jewell Estes of Cape Girardeau; one son, Leo (wife, Gloria) Welker of Cape Girardeau; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sons, Hubert Welker, Rusby Welker and Loy John Welker.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 1, 1983, at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home. Rev. Lloyd Bollinger officiated, with burial following at Old Salem Cemetery in Millersville.
