Mr. Altman Died Sunday at Hospital
William Martin Altman Sr., 75, died Sunday afternoon in the Georgetown County Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health for several years.
Mr. Altman was born in Georgetown County on July 13, 1903, a son of the late Martin Linwood Altman Sr. and Mrs. Elizabeth Haselden Altman. He had lived all his life in the Georgetown area and was employed at the International Paper Co. for a time and worked with tug boats. Mr. Altman was a Methodist.
Surviving are two sons William M. Altman Jr., of High Point NC an James E. Altman of Irmo; three daughters Mrs. Marie A. Wyman of Rockville Md, Mrs. Shirley A. Anderson of Georgetown, and Mrs. Eleanor A. Witt of Tel Aviv, Israel; two brothers Laurice G. Altman and Winston O. Altman, both of Georgetown; two sisters Mrs. Ethel A. Cribb of St. Paul Minn, and Mrs. Eunice A Hilliard of Wilmington NC; 18 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday afternoon in the Chapel of the Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating was Rev. Herbert C. Peak Jr. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery.
