GEORGETOWN-- Laurice Gaillard Altman Sr., 81, died Monday, March 2, 1998, at home.

He was born Dec. 19, 1916, in Georgetown, a son of the late Martin and Elizabeth Haselden Altman.

He grew up in Georgetown and was a graduate of Winyah High School and attended business school.

Mr. Altman retired from International Paper Co. in 1979 and was a member of the the Quarter Century Club at the paper mill. He was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3067.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Sturcken Altman; four sons, Laurice Altman Jr. of Georgetown, Martin Altman of Parkersburg, W.Va., Paul Altman of Mount Pleasant and Donald Altman of Beaufort; a daughter, Frances Greene of Hilliard, Ohio; a sister, Eunice Hilliard of Wilmington, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A Rosary service will be at 7:30 tonight at Georgetown chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after the Rosary service until 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
