Serious Accident Occurs At Landersville
A most serious accident occurred Saturday afternoon at Landerville when a car driven by H. J. McDowell struck H. J. Latham, knocking him down, injuring him internally and rendering him unconscious.
According to reports, Mr. McDowell was not driving the car at a rapid rate and the accident was thought to be unavoidable. It seems from reports that Mr. Latham became confused and stepped toward the car rather than away from it.
It is a very lamentable occurence and very painful and grevious to both Mr. McDowell and Mr. Latham and to their families and friends.
Mr. Latham, 71 years old, is one of Landersville's oldest and most appreciated citizens and he has hosts of friends all over the county who will be greatly pleased to hear of his recovery.'
After running the above article, news reached this office that Mr. Latham died at 8 o'clock Tuesday night. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Landersville Church of Christ by Bros. L. P. Royer and O. E. Kirby of Moulton and Bro. J. H. Hill of Decatur, interment following immediately in the cemetery nearby.
