Posey was one of seven children born to George Cooper and Rachael Jackson. She was born and raised in Lee County on her family's peanut farm. All the children helped to work the peanut farm. In 1901 she married Robert Hildebrand. Two children were born to this union. In 1908 this marriage ended in divorce and Posey and her children, Elmira and Robert Jr moved back home to live with her parents George and Rachael Cooper. In 1912 she married Nathan Perdy Phenix. Five children were born to this union. Ollie, Normal, Herma, William, and Levada were all raised in the same central area of Texas as their mother. In 1949 this marriage ended in divorce. She lived the remainder of her life in the Austin area to be near her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rachael Cooper, her sisters Precilla and Genora and her brother Moses. She leaves to mourn her passing her children Elmira, Robert Jr, Ollie, Normal, Herma, William, and Levada; her sisters Areline, Rebecca, Phably, and May, and her grandchildren, neices, nephews, cousins, and friends.
