Rome Sentinel Wednesday Sept 2, 1908
Michael Kennedy, aged 45 years, died at his home on the Irish ridge in the town of Verona shortly after 10 o’clock on Tuesday night. He was a farmer and had been at work as usual on Tuesday. He retired shortly after 10 o’clock. A little later his wife noticed a bright blaze in the sky in the direction of Sylvan Beach and remarked to him about a fire. Shortly afterward she observed that he was breathing quite heavily. Mrs. Kennedy spoke to him about it and receiving no response discovered that her husband was unconscious. He died shortly afterward. Dr. Hall of Durhamville was called and gave the cause of death as apoplexy. Mr. Kennedy was born on the Irish Ridge and always lived there. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Misses Katherine and Bessie, who live at home, and the following brothers and sisters: Thomas of Oneida, Thomas of Irish Ridge, Mrs. John Tyrell of Rome, Mrs. Joseph Burback of Irish Ridge, Mrs. Michael Riley of Verona and Mrs. J. S. Hyland of Oneida.
