Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon for Eli Fox, aged 81 years, well known resident of southeastern Greene county, who died Monday night, March 14, 1932, at 11 o'clock at his home on Shannon Run, Perry township. Following short services in the Fox home at 1:30, further rites were conducted in the Claughton Chapel church at 2 o'clock. The services were in charge of Rev. C. W. Scragg, of Mt. Morris. Interment was in the Claughton cemetery.

Mr. Fox's death was due to infirmities incident to his advanced years. He was born October 16, 1850, a son of John Fox and Dorothy Haines Fox, and was a life-long resident of Greene county. He married Nancy Vandruff, whose death occurred five years ago. He was the father of three children, and one son, Lafayette Fox, of Perry township, survives. There are two grandchildren. Five brothers and two sisters also survive as follows: C. C. Fox, of Morrisville; Taylor Fox, of Kirby; William Fox, of Kirby; Luther Fox, of Morgantown, W. Va.; Mrs. J. L. Walters, of Spraggs; and Mrs. G. W. Patterson, of Waynesburg. Mr. Fox was a member of the Claughton Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church.
