Last rites for Anna Black
Services for Anna Black, 80, were held February 7, 1986 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford, officiated by Rev. John Park Winkler. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery in Bedford. Mrs. Black died February 4, 1986 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Anna [Fern] Irvin Brumfield Black was born January 26, 1906 at Athelstan, Iowa, the daughter of Eggbert [Egbert] and Winnie Irvin. She was a lifelong resident of Taylor County, spending her childhood in Athelstan.

On June 2, 1926, she married Bert Olin Brumfield. They lived in Taylor County and the surrounding area and were involved in farming and farm related jobs until his death in 1951.

Anna became an L.P.N, and worked at the Mental Health Center in Clarinda until she retired.

In 1960, she married Tom Black.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Brumfield; a son, Elgin [Gene] Brumfield; her husband, Tom Black; three sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by three children, Mrs. Willa King, Des Moines; Elvin Brumfield, Beaumont, Texas; and Ron Brumfield, Waukee, Ia.; a brother, Robert Irvin, Bedford; 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
