He was the son of Joe Godsby & Elizabeth Florence Spears. He attended Coalgate and graduated from Coalgate H.S. and attended Okmulgee Tech and received a mechanic degree. He married Mrytle Mae Hicks on Jan. 21, 1956 in Durant, Ok, he was married to her for 43 years. She preceded him in death on April 19, 1999. He then married Helen (Norman) Spears on Sept. 29, 2005 in Mt. View, AR. Billy was a member of the VFW and served on the school board at Coalgate and Cottonwood Schools. He is survived by his wife Helen; children Betty Crow and Billy Don Spears; grandchild, Tamara Spears; great grandchild, Thomas Cofer; sisters, Ida Phillips, Dela Blannsett and Stella Cook. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe, Hall and Paul Spears; sisters, Emilie Hisaw and Ella Calder; and a granddaughter, Rachel Mae Dawn Spears. Services will be Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 2 pm at the First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Moore Cemetery. Pastor Jeff Self will officiate.
