COALGATE -- Services for Joe Harmon Spears, 66, Coalgate, are 2 p.m. Friday at the Cottonwood Baptist Church, the Rev. Bill Weathers conducting rites. Burial follows in the Spears Family Cemetery.
Mr. Spears died Oct. 13, 1993, at his home. He was born May 30, 1927, in Granite to Joe and Florence Spears. On Aug. 4, 1967, he married Helen Francis Norman in Durant. He was a retired truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Francis Spears, of the home; six [five] sons, Charles, Billy Joe, and Paul, all of Coalgate, Carl, of Lehigh, [and] Eddie, of Stonewall; four stepdaughters, Linda Williams, Bryan, Texas, Vicki Lawrence, Willa, Ga., Debbie Possey, Shreveport, La., and Pat, Hollywood, Fla.; five sisters, Ida Phillips, Coalgate, Emily Hisaw, Stonewall, Stella Cooke [Cook], Stockton, Calif., Ella Calder, California, Delia Blansett, Vacuville [Vacaville], Calif.; three brothers, Paul and Bill Spears, both of Coalgate, [and] Hall Spears, Stockton, Calif.; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bearers are J. B. English, Floyd Smith, Jackie Phillips, Joe Pasquale, Billy Don Spears and Billy Don Shockey. Honorary bearers are Sam Archer, Mousy Hallmark and Donald Fleck.
Services are under the direction of Jim Epperson Funeral Service of Coalgate.
