Harold S. Aungst, 81, of 45 Evergreen Rd., McVeytown died at 8:28 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009 at Lewistown Hospital.

Born January 27, 1928 in Elizabethtown, he was a son of the late Warren S. and Anna (Nissley) Aungst, Sr. His wife, Anita L. (Bowman) Aungst, whom he married February 28, 1948, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Sandra J. Brubaker and husband Dale of Monrovia, MD, Gary L. Aungst and wife Susan of McVeytown, Daniel E. Aungst and wife Patty of McVeytown, Michael H. Aungst of Manchester, Cindy M. Kambie and husband Jerome of Harrisburg, Sheri L. North and husband Clyde of Linglestown, Laurie J. Shrock and husband Melvin of McVeytown and Michelle K. Baker and husband Andrew of Burnham; a brother, Harry Aungst of Marietta; 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Hiram S. Aungst and Warren S. Aungst, Jr., and stepbrothers, Samuel S. Aungst and Paul S. Aungst.

He was a 1946 graduate of Donegal High School.

He was a dairy farmer and was an excellent cattleman and dairyman. He won an award for PA's highest alfalfa yield.

He was a member of Calvary Bible Church of Newton Hamilton. He enjoyed Christian music and listening to his wife play the piano.

He liked Phillies baseball, organic farming, his dogs, hunting and deep sea fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his family and had a great sense of humor and wit.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at Calvary Bible Church, 100 Calvary Lane, Lewistown with Pastor Bob Boswell and Evangelist Mark Kerlin officiating. His family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
