In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold S. Aungst, on March 20, 2009; by two sisters, Elizabeth Simmons and Evelyn Harple, and nine brothers, Richard, Willard, Robert, Paul, Gerald, Albert, Nelson, Everett and Marvin Bowman.
She is survived by: three sons and spouses, Gary (Sue) Aungst, of McVeytown; Daniel (Patty) Aungst, of McVeytown; Michael Aungst, of Manchester; and five daughters and spouses, Sandra (Dale) Brubaker, of Monrovia, MD; Cynthia (Jerry) Kambic, of Harrisburg; Sheri (Clyde) North, of Linglestown; Laureen (Melvin) Shrock, of McVeytown; and Michelle (Andy) Baker, of Burnham; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alma Hartman, of California, and Shirley Price, of Lancaster.
Anita graduated from McCaskey High School, class of 1947, Lancaster. She was a secretary, salesperson and a homemaker. She was a recipient of Scofield Bible Correspondence School. She was an organist and pianist in several churches and helped maintain the family farm. She was member of Calvary Bible Baptist Church, Newton Hamilton.
Viewings will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 2 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St. Lewistown and from 10 – 11 a.m., Sat. Feb. 3 with a funeral service to follow at 11 at Mountain View Mennonite Chapel, 104 Shelley Drive, Reedsville, with Pastor Dave Aungst and B.G. Boswell officiating.
Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
