Laura S. Rice Died Wednesday
Mrs. Laura Smith Rice, widow of Hyrum S. Rice, and active member of the L D S church, died Wednesday at 3:30 pm at the home of a daughter, Eva A. Rice, 511-17 street, Ogden after a lingering illness.

She was born Dec 21, 1868 in Farmington, a daughter of Utah's soldier colonizer, Capt. Lot Smith. and Laura Burdick Smith. She was the oldest surviving child of Capt. Smith. She has spent over 50 years in positions in the L D S church. Beginning her work as secretary of the Y W M I A of the Farmington ward at the age of 14, throughout the rest of her life she served as president, counselor, instructor and group leader in the Relief society. She had been president of the ward primary also.
