Mrs. Udy, Daughter of Lott Smith, Dies In Farmington

Mrs. Annetta S. Udy, 72, widow of Joseph Udy, who died a month ago, and daughter of Lott Smith, who with his men held Johnson's army back in the hills, passed away Wednesday at her home in Farmington, after only a few days of serious illness.

Mrs. Udy was born March 9, 1863 in Farmington, the daughter of Lott and Jane Walker Smith. She married Joseph Udy Jan. 5, 1882 and immediately moved to Elba, Idaho where they made their home for a number of years operating a very successful farm and livestock ranch. In 1919, they moved back to Farmington where they purchased a fine home across the street west of the court house, on the south Main street, where they have made their home until their passing away.

She was the mother of eleven children, ten of whom survive. Mrs. Nettie Lessie, Rigby, Mrs. Maggie Elison, Oakley; A.J. Udy and Lott Udy of Elba; Mrs. Nell Mortenson, Santa Ana California; Mrs. Iva Beecher, Heyburn; Dale Udy, Albion; Mrs. Hazel Udy, Mrs. Marva Earl and Mrs. Fontella Chaffin, Farmington, together with thirty grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Effie Palmer, Farmington and Mrs. Margaret Palmer Los Angeles also survive.

Mrs. Udy has been a very active worker in the L.D.S. church until very recent years when her age has prevented her from extensive work.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Farmington ward chapel under the direction of Bishop E. B. Gregory with interment in the Farmington city cemetery.
