Glenwood, Utah - Our kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Lula Veneta Bagley Payne, age 94, died March 15, 2009 at her home in Glenwood.

She was born November 6, 1914 in Greenwich, Utah, a daughter of George Alma "Allie" and Mary Elizabeth Winget Bagley. She graduated from South Sevier High School, Class of 1932. She married Reed J. Payne (1909-2001), December 14, 1938 in the Manti LDS Temple. He died January 16, 2001.

Lula was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a Primary Teacher, Relief Society Teacher, Visiting Teacher, in the Name Extraction Program, and she received the Silver Beaver Scouting Award.

She served as an Election Judge for more than 50 years in Glenwood. She was a member of the DUP Camp Glen Cove, was involved with the Utah Writers Association. One project Lula was proud of helping with, was taking Scouts to the Old Glenwood Pioneer Cemetery to clean, repair and replace broken, old and worn headstones.

Lula enjoyed making quilts, which she shared with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children: Mary Lou and Warren Harward, Wanda Irene Steck, Reed John and Phyllis Payne, all of Richfield; Terry Kay and Barbara Jean Payne of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 23 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Alean Sevy of Perry, UT; Leola Herzog of Salt Lake City; Lynn Bagley and Roland Bagley, both of Greenwich; Keith Bagley of Layton; extended family, Pat Okerlund of Lyman and Carl Steck of Richfield.

She was preceded in death by her children: Patsy and Wendel Heaton; Robert B. Payne; 1 grandchild; 2 great-grandchildren; sister and brother: Iona Black and Dean Bagley.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the Glenwood LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Friday evening from 7 to 9 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Glenwood, Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
