Iona "Toni" Bagley Black, age 87, a long-time resident of Orem, Utah, passed away April 14, 2004 at So. Lincoln Medical Center, Kemmerer, Wyoming of causes incident to age.
She was born October 30, 1916 in Greenwich, Utah to George Alma and Mary Elizabeth Winget Bagley. She married Raymond Frank Black, February 4, 1942 at her home in Greenwich, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. They resided in and raised her three children in Orem. He preceded her in death March 6, 1997.
Toni spent her life in service to her family. She was a wonderful homemaker. She loved to sew and quilt and put thousands of miles on her treadle sewing machine. Toni was also an excellent cook and gardener. At home, if you came to visit, you couldn't leave without a meal.
Toni was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For many years she was involved in service through the Relief Society, Sunday School, and Primary. Toni cooked for numerous ward banquets, and thousands of meals for many months to raise funds for the building of the old 9th Ward chapel.
Toni was one of eight children.
An older brother, Dean Bagley, preceded her in death. The other siblings are Lula Payne of Glenwood, UT, Lynn (Glenona) Bagley, Greenwich, UT, Keith (Fern) Bagley, Layton; Alean Sevy, Perry, UT; Roland (Elsie) Bagley, Greewich, UT, and Leola (Don) Herzog, Salt Lake City. Her children, Owen (Lynda), Earl (Sherry), and Frankie (Stan) Nelson gave "Grandma" nine grandchildren, two of which, Karlee and Jason, preceded her in death. She also had nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 17, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. in the Geneva Heights 1st Ward Chapel, 590 North 900 West, Orem. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in East Lawn Memorial Hills under the direction of Berg Mortuary.
