Cora E. Shupe was born November 20, 1890 in Fries, VA, the daughter of Joseph A. and Mary Haga Cornett. Her surviving sibling was Blanch Cornett of Murphysboro.

She was married July 27, 1906 in Vergennes to Flem A. Shupe who died August 28, 1967. Her children included Elvin, Horace, Grace Heape and Hazel Nausley, all of Vergennes and Betty Doerr of Carbondale.

Mrs. Shupe was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.

She died at the age of 81 on Sunday, October 15, 1972 in Murphysboro after a short illness. Her funeral service was held in Crawshaw Mortuary Chapel in Murphysboro. Rev. Charles Tindle officiated.
