He married Cora Cornett on July 27, 1906 in Virginia. She survived as well as children, Elvin, Horace, Mrs. Grace Heape and Mrs. Hazel Nausley, all of Vergennes and Mrs. Betty Doerr of Carbondale. Three daughters preceded him in death.
Mr. Shupe was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and the Evangelic al United Brethren Church.
He died at the age of 82 on Monday, August 28, 1967 in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. His funeral service was held at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Vergennes. Rev. Paul Hawf officiated. Crawshaw Mortuary (Murphysboro) handled arrangements.
