THE BODY AT WINDOW

Funeral Saturday Was Conducted on the Outside

A son and a daughter dead and all of the rest of the family stricken with the dread scarlet fever is the plight of the Roesler family.

William Roesler, aged twenty, the first to be taken down with the disease, passed away Saturday morning and was followed this morning by his sister, aged three years.

William Roesler was taken ill three days ago. The funeral took place Saturday afternoon, Rev. Lindenmeyer conducted the services on the porch in front of the house. No one was allowed to enter the home, but the body of the young man, in the casket, was placed beside a closed window and those friends who desired a last view of his features were permitted to step up and view the remains through the window. Interment took place in Crown Hill Cemetery.

The funeral of the little girl took place this afternoon, the same precautions being taken. The family remaining consists of Mr. and Mrs. Roesler, a daughter and four sons.

(NOTE: Misinformation on the death of a little girl, and article should read 2 daughters and 4 sons remain.)

(NOTE: The "daughter" mentioned in the article above lived through her ordeal with Scarlet Fever. She was my Mother.)
