WISE, Va. - William H. Stipes, 68, died Tuesday morning in a local hospital after a long illness.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dixie Stipes, three daughters, Mrs. Louise Fields and Mrs. Bernice Phillips, both of Coquille, Ore., and Miss Betty Jane Stipes, Wise; five sons, Roy Stipes, Kingsport, Tenn., John L. Stipes, Louisiana, William H. Stipes Jr., Paul Stipes and .Jimmy Ray Stipes, all of Wise; five stepdaughters, Mrs. Bonnie Calhoun, Keokee, Mrs. Gladys Guthery, Montgomery Field, Ala., Mrs. Stacy Roberts, Catlett, Va., Mrs. Glenda Fay Salyers, Wise, and Mrs. Lizzie Province, Norton; three stepsons, Charles Freeman and Joseph Freeman, both of Norton and Frank Freeman, Ypsilanti, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Hensley, Coquille, Ore., Mrs. Ernest Collins and Mrs. Francis Collins, both of Norton; two brothers, Edward Stipes, Washington and. Frank Stipes, Lynchburg, Va.; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Hagy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

STIPES — Funeral services for William H. Stipes will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Free Pentecostal Church of God on Guest River, with the Rev. Clyde Addington and the Rev Glenn Sturgill officiating. Burial will be in Gray Cemetery. The body will be taken to the residence of Charles Freeman at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Hagy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
