Edward B. Stipes Sr. died May 30, 1996.

He was born to Henry and Polly Stipes of Blackwood, VA in 1909. He worked in the coal mines and came to Tacoma in 1945. He retired as a caregiver from Western State Hospital.

Preceded in death by wife, Cora Livingston Stipes; stepsons, Kenneth and Carson Willis; brothers, Frank and Bill; sisters, Mary and Ernestine.

Survived by sons, Edward Stipes Jr. (Judy), James Benny (Ingrid) Stipes, Jack Willis; daughters, Joyce Gaynell (Victor) Marker, Marguerite (Lloyd) Gunderson, Clara Linda Stipes, all living in the Puget Sound area,Ruth Snodgrass, W.V.; sister, Frances Collins, VA; 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Mon. in the Piper-Morley Chapel, 5436 S. Puget Sound. Entombment, Sumner Cemetery. Arrangements by Piper-Morley-Mellinger Funeral Directors.
