Funeral services for Dr. Thomas H. Manley, Jr., 63, prominent Tarentum Physician and eye specialist who drowned accidently in Pine Creek, Etna, will be held in his home, 544 second avenue, at 2:30 Sunday afternoon. Dr. Manley's body was found yesterday in Allegheny River, near the mouth of the creek. Allegheny County coroner's office reported cause of death as asphyxiation by drowning. Tentative identification, first established by cards in his wallet which also contained $110 in cash, was confirmed by John Lasher, New Kensington son-in-law of the victim who viewed the body. Dr. Manley is believed to have been drowned last Friday evening when he fell from a wall along the creekside in Butler street, Etna. A search by Etna firemen who were called failed to recover the body. Dr. Manley was one of the most prominent and highly regarded eye specialists in Western Pennsylvania. He was a member of the medical staffs of Allegheny General and U.S. Marine hospitals in Pittsburgh. He was also one of the first members of the medical staff of Allegheny Valley Hospital. He was a member of Allegheny County Medical Society, American Medical Association, Pittsburgh Academy of Medicine, Pittsburgh Ophthalmology Society and Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology. He was also a member of Chi Phi National social fraternity, and Brackenridge Heights Country Club. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Pearl Roach Manley, five daughters: Mrs. Robert W. (Virginia) Wilson, Tarentum; Mrs. Harold (Eileen) Lessig, New Kensington; Mrs. John (Dorothy) Lasher, New Kensington; Mrs. Roland (Kathleen) Heiler, Tarentum, and Miss Sidney, at home; one son Thomas H. Manley, III, Tarentum; his mother, Mrs. Thomas H. Manley, Sr., Tarentum, and 14 grandchildren. Friends are being received in the family home. Servicee will be held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon by Rev. Robert Foust Sheaffer, Tarentum. Burial will follow in Mount Airy Cemetery.
