Thomas Henry Manley III, 62, formerly of Tarentum, died Thursday (March 21, 1974) in a Philadelphia hospital after an illness of one year. Mr. Manley was born May 31, 1911, in Marianna, to Dr. Thomas H. and Pearl Hedrick Manley. He was a member of the Merchant Marines, serving as chief mate for many gasoline tanker firms. While with the Merchant Marines he saw action in Salerno and Anzio beacheheads. Mr. Manley was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tarentum and the Maritime Commission. Surviving are three sons; Thomas Lee Manley of Stuttgart, Germany; Paul Douglas Manley, serving with the U.S. Navy in Guantanomo Bay, and James Edward Manley of Franklin; five sisters: Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Wilson of Lower Burrell, Mrs. Harold (Eileen) Lessig and Mrs. John T. (Dorothy) Lasher, both of New Kensington, Miss Sidney Manley and Mrs. Roland (Kathleen) Hetler, both of Tarentum. Friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and noon to 7 to 9 tomorrow in the Fever-Krynicki Funeral Home, Tarentum, where a service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday by the Rev. Robert E. Andreen. Burial will be in Mount Airy Cemetery Natrona Heights.
