Aurelia Spencer was married first to Charles Franklin Stevens Jr. on December 21, 1897 in the St. George Temple. They had thirteen children: Rachel, Charles Alma, Maude Asenath, Melborn, Edson, Vance, Grace, Orson, Ray, Lucy, Howard, Emily and Virginia. Seven of these children died as babies.

After Franklin's sudden death of a heart attack on April 22, 1919, Aurelia did her best to provide for her children. They moved from Utah to Arizona for a short time and then to California and returned back to Cedar City, Utah.

Aurelia was married second to John Henry Petty on November 12, 1924, who was 22 years her senior and had been married twice before. John died on May 19, 1940.

Aurelia lived twenty three years longer and passed away on November 21, 1963 in Cedar City, Utah. She was buried beside her first husband (and three of their babies) in the Cedar City Cemetery on November 23, 1963.
