About five minutes after eight on Sunday night, Mrs Elizabeth Ann Hokanson passed away after a short illness, (although she has been ailing for two or three years.) she had had heart trouble for a long time, but the final scene was brought about by a severe attack of asthma. She had been visiting her mother in Afton, for about two weeks and spent her birthday here, the 16th of March, and when she returned home the trip was evidently too much for her, as she took sick right away, and hardly rallied, finally passing peacefully away.
She was born March 16th 1872 at St. Charles Idaho, and was the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Emma Michaelson. She married to Hokan Hokanson Nov. 7, 1890, and moved to Star Valley the same year. She is the mother of eight children, all living, the youngest is about three years old.
The funeral services were held Wednesday at the Thayne Meeting House. The speakers were: Roy Harrison, Bp. Albert Barrus, Ed Sessions, John U. Moser, Sam Merritt, Ozro Gardner, Jos Denio, Wilford A. Hyde and Jos Hincks. In their remarks it was brought out that Sister Hokanson had been a faithful Latter-day Saint and had taken an active part in religious work i the Thayne Ward, having been one of the first members of the Relief society, and had brought the first Psalmody into the ward.
The INDEPENDENT joins her many friends in mourning her loss.
