He was the son of Jacob OWENS & Ellender "Nellie" McNEAL.


His wife was Elizabeth Barbara DARTING who he married on March 1, 1860, in Harrison Co., IA.


Their seven children were:

CAME TO IOWA IN 1856 C.G. Owens, Long Time Resident of this County laid to Rest Sunday, at the Age of 90


Claybourne Glover Owens was born in Fountain County, Indiana, August 27, 1837. He passed from this life, March 30, 1928, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.H. Carr, Logan, Iowa, at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 3 days.


His father Jacob Owens, moved from Indiana with his family in 1856 located in Harrison County, where the deceased spent most of his life. From 1912 to 1927 he lived in Lincoln, Nebraska. in the spring of 1927, he returned to Logan and the last year of his life was spent at the home of his daughter.


He was one of a large family of children, of whom but one sister, Mrs. I.E. Ellison of Omaha survives him.


He was married to Elizabeth Darting March 1, 1860. They were the parents of eight children. The mother and three of the children preceded in death. These were Mrs. A.L. Faith, George H Owens and Newton W. Owens. The surviving children are Mrs. A.E. Shaw, of Colorado, James M and Mrs. J.H. Carr of Logan, John C of Bald Knob, Arkansas and Olive of Lincoln, Nebraska.


He leaves a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn with his family their loss. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Logan. Both he and his wife were baptized by Dr. D.R. Dungan over 50 years ago.


The funeral was held at the Church of Christ here, Sunda afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by the pastor, L.L. Chamness. The burial was in the Frazier Cemetery, southwest of Logan.
