"Logan Nucleus"
2 March 1899
Elias Owens, son of Jacob and Eleanor Owens, passed from this earth on Feb. 24, 1899, after a long illness.
The deceased made his home with his sister, Mrs. Will Longman where for a number of years he was a useful member of the family, always kind, cheerful and willing to perform his daily duties without complaint. About 2 years ago he suffer a stroke of paralysis and since has been confined to his bed. He lived a peaceful, unoffending Christian life and set a worthy example for many a stranger - one in body and mind.
He was born near Cincinnati, Ohio, April 15, 1829. In 1839 moved to Indiana and from there to Harrison County in 1855 where he has resided ever since.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. G. Picket of Omaha, on Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Christian Church from where the remains were taken to their last resting place.
Death is a sad visitor but when it calls one so pure and well prepared to meet the great Judge we should not mourn. The Nucleus joins in extending a hand of sympathy.
